Lágbájá - Skentele Skontolo
Lágbájá is at the top of my list when it comes to Nigerian artists. And as much as I’d like to write about him, I just haven’t had the time to properly tackle the topic. This was important to me because he is one of the most misunderstood Nigerian artists… and while I have several half-finished articles on him, I resolved to not post any music until I’d given him the proper introduction. Then I came upon this video today (via youtube) from his latest album, Africano… the mother of groove, and I couldn’t hold back any longer - I had to share this with the rest of you.
I won’t say anything more at this point - look for the proper Lagbaja introduction in the near future. For now, enjoy Skentele Skontolo.

This video, I dont understand the words (sigh) but its beautiful how our culture is shown, it glorifies the woman, the dance and the traditional outfits. I think one of my most proud possesions are the natives that I wear. it makes me feel so proud, not to mention beautiful and unique
abeh let me on to this lagbaja artist I need to understand him well well

i have always been a big fan of lagbaja. This vcd is beautiful. It gaves a chance to others who don’t usually listen to lagbaja, or any other nigerian music to view a wide spectrum of out culture and music. It shows we are very artistic and talented and everything in nigeria is not what the white man shows us. JOB WELL DONE LAGBAJA!!!!

Lagabaja is fantastic, am so proud of my culture and heritage. Lagbaja is a sweet simplification of the richness of the yoruba culture. his use of the most insignificant part of youruba culture to bring out essence is mind blowing.
kudos
