Lágbájá - Never Far Away

Never Far Away is a love song from Lágbájá’s latest album, Africano… the mother of groove - featuring fellow singer and co-writer ‘Bisade Ologunde, as they recall love that went awry.

Interestingly the song incorporates orchestral strings and western instrumentation backed up by the wonderful bata, dundun and ogido drums. It’s as though the Whitney Houston of old got together with Lagbaja’s rhythm section for a jam session, because Never Far Away is close to the sound they’d produce… and I don’t mean that in a bad way either.

The video isn’t quite on the Skentele Stontolo level, but it’s a nice song and video nonetheless. I can’t wait to get my hands on this VCD.

Enjoy

Luv everything about the track & video. Lagbaja keeps it real.

  2. Doyin Says:

Talking about keeping it real. Check out a guy I believe to be the best Nigerian artiste out their right now. I appreciate guys like 2 face and Lagbaja, but their talent really doesn’t quite match Ku ku’s, at least in my book. Visit kukulive.com

  3. bobo Says:

Doyin, thanks for the information. You compare “people like 2face & lagbaja.” How do you place those two in the same group? They couldn’t possibly be more different and suggesting so puts your statements into question. Kuku’s good, but imo, but he and lagbaja are on completely different playing fields…

  4. Doyin Says:

I understand your point. The fact still remain regardless of genre. You can’t compare 90% on Nigerian artist with the quality of Sunny Ade. eaning to say, quality, and craftmanship can be measured subjectively. I like Lagbaja and 2 face but KUkuis is breath of fresh air. This is just my opinion

  5. Omoruyi Says:

Lagbaja’s work is distincitve from any other present day Nigerian artiste. He combines so beautifully, African sounds and rythms with a completely western orchestra! This video never ceases to give me goose pimples and make me appreciate the simple yet powerful vocals of Lagbaja’s lead vocalist and co-writer. Lovely…simply lovely stuff
