eLDee - Me I Go Yarn

Lately, the amount of press Nigeria has been getting, ht looming 2007 Presidential elections in Nigeria have been on my mind. It seems many of the “leaders” are concerned more with platforms that fall along tribal and religious lines than with what the country needs - 1) food, water, education & jobs for the people and 2) providing a solid plan to get Nigeria headed down the right path.

When these thoughts lay heavy on my mind, I always think back to eLDee’s “Me I Go Yarn” (in english: I will or I’m going to talk/say/discuss), where he discusses some of these same issues.

Be sure to check out eLDee’s new website where he keeps us up to date on his latest happenings and provides some exclusive tracks as well.

  2. dadaddyman Says:

I saw this video sometime ago by following a link on a naija community I frequent. I liked it off the back because the tune was on point, and the video was fair to midland. What got me though was the message…I mean, it’s gotta be said..naija is in trouble, and if we the youth don’t start at least trying to make a positive difference, we’re gonna linger in this mess for much more time to come. It’s actually very sad.
    much props

  3. Remi Says:

The real question is what needs to done, we talk too much already.

  4. Obi Says:

One thing - African leaders including Nigeria’s OBJ is just suffering his people…I know he care less about those on the streets of Oshodi or Agege but just his close ones. Africa need to stop for once, look back the the past that is where we have been coming from and make a better tomorrow for ourselves and the generations to come.

We can sure do it… we are the real and original men & women of Zion so why can’t we WAKE UP! and make what was once paradise flourish again. That song is one of those truth made on record but the direct target audience wont listen.. WE, the PEOPLE have the ultimate right and power to make our AFRICA the land of prosperity, good life and welbeing.

Some of us are living dead…we are walking on the streets but we have been fooled and brain-washed too much to devote our time on the wrong things. We have talked too much…made lots of song for those morons who call themselves president and leaders. LET’S WAKE UP NOW …WAKE UP AFRICAN MAN…WAKE UP AFRICAN WOMAN…LET’S MAKE OUR HOME WHAT THE ALMIGHTY WANTED IT TO BE!!!

    ACT NOW & BE POSITIVE!

  6. Yemi Says:

Wow… the boi has mad talent… Naija has mad issues!

… but its refreshing to know that good things still come out of our land.

Eldee my boi keep yarning… Its up to our generation to do somefin about it… and the right plac eto start is to yarn so that all involved will know whatsup!!

  11. Chika Says:

Hey eldee, great job on the video, it stresses exactly the message that needs to be heard. Guys, I live in the United states of america, and ive never had a chance to really spend time in nigeria. I’m an igbo man down to the brown sandals. I speak igbo, and i understand our traditions and customs. I also am an american, i understand how to b an american and how to live this life here. I think that we kids that are becoming of age (15-25), and live outside of Nigera are to blame for some of the issues in Nigeria. Ask yourself, how much are you helping your brothers, sisters and cousins back in Nigeria? I’m 19 years old, and i know that ive spent a large part of my life focusing on myself and my immediate family only. My family went to these meetings, but i enver really paid attention or cared for what hte adults did, all i knew was that they argued. As ive gotten older, ive become much more aware of the actual issues our parents are arguing about. Am i the only one who belives that the biggest problem in nigeria is religion? Obviously, the cultural differences are glaring, but y is it that when we leave that country, we unite, but when we’re in there, cultural differnces are too much to overcome? The differnce is religon. I think the only way to fix it is to have the next generation (us) band together in one way or the other. Ive been thinking about starting up a youth meeting for ages 15-25. Not just an igbo or a village or anything like that, but international nigerians youth association. Im very interested in starting this up, but i need support. I need to know if i have interest… if anyone is interested in helping me start this up, plz email me at –> africanawater@yahoo.com

By the way, im not a christian, and im not a muslim, i am an eckist. This gives me a diffent viewpoint from most Nigerians. I am all about helping that country. I want no credit or money, i just wanna take care of my people. Let me know if you’re with me.

  12. Kanu Says:

Eldee man i do hope and pray that a lot more artist will speak out more about the issues in africa as you are doing.how long will we contunie to be a nation Robed spoiled and scattere? It is time for us to stand up for our selves and for the generation to come.your are the voice of a very concern african son we can only do so much my brother keep spreading the word the lord will make a change some how. keep the faith be strong one love.

  27. ud Says:

the song for sure wont be made popular back at home for obvious reasons but i thank God for the awareness. i want to commend the singer on his bold steps. for sure the next sane generation will remember not only him but everone who stood up to cry out for the suffering of our people.

  28. Paul-G Says:

well, what more can i say..Fela said it….eLDee echoed..remember our elders say”when death is calling an errant child it never listens”…so DEATH to all the enemies of progress in Naija..AMEN!!!!

  29. Tolu Ihidero Says:

Eldee has said it all.I really admire the guy a lot.I have been following him since his days in TRYBESMEN.He has got talent and an innovative approach to hip-hop music.Nigeria is in deep shit becos of the attitude of our leaders. They are not progressives and they dont really care about the citizens of the country. It is a shame that most of my colleagues who completed NYSC last August[2006] dont have jobs at this moment.Youths are roaming about the streets with nothing to do.It is a shame o.Eldee, you’ve got my back in your crusade to spark a revolution in Nigeria. While you do yours with music,I do mine through writing.God Bless You.

  30. olumide Says:

Great job on that song Eldee.its really thought provocking.its really sad that know that our leaders go to these foreign lands and see what those people have done to make the lives of their ppl worth living and they go back home and fold their arms and do nothing but enrich their pockets and that of their family.i felt really bad the day i got to the very place u shot that video in New York even though i loved where i was i still felt pity 4 our pple back home.lets not keep quiet as youth of that country cus i know one day things will begin to change 4 beter in that country.however to end matter,me i am proud to be 4rm naija anyday nomatter what.God bless.
