Eedris on the run-in with 50 Cent
Many of you probably heard about the reported scuffle between Eedris Abdulkareem and 50 cent in December 2004. The fight resulted in 50 cutting the tour short prior to the final show in Port Harcourt.
While the issue may seem like little more than a publicity stunt by Eedris, none of us were there and can only rely on reports and commentary. Check out this new video where Eedris gives his take on the situation at a live show in Germany a few weeks ago.

Eedris get skill plus i like im music that’s why e pain me when he PULLED that PUBLICITY STUNT. He never prove to me that 50 actually did wrong, on the contrary why u go “innocently” go sit down on a designated seat. Am not saying its fair, but 50 no be the problem, the problem be the ORGANIZERS
If 50 tell am to “get the fuck off his seat” he had the right to, i go personally do the same. If Eedris had boned that shit, and went after the organizers, i for don be his front man, 50 might even had backed him on that. But now wetin he do was cause a situation where american entertainers are reluctant to come over, causing bad business for Naija. Look at south africa, americans go in and out cus they feel safe. Come to think about it, i think i might be overestimating eedris’ smarts, he might have gone in there just to prove se im be “gangsta.” Stupid either way

This might be really controversial here folks, but i have to get it off my chest. I think Eedris is really wack as a rapper, and that’s straight up. He can call his music whatever, but good hiphop it isn’t. I’m far from a hater, actually i’m an avid supporter of anything good emanating from the motherland, but i really cringe when i hear these so-called rappers faking American accents. The faking of an American accent alone rules out any claims to originality. How you go just wake up one day begin try talk like say na N.Y. you grow up for? If these guys really think, they’ll realize that the reason why 50 cent was treated superiorly is that 50 cent is indeed superior to him – as a rapper – on any f**ing level man! I should add that i’m not even a fan of 50 cent’s image and music. I read Eedris’ BIo and i realized that the guy is really talented, but he chose the wrong direction, and because of that, he’ll never attain the status of the likes of some Nigerian artistes (I feel wrong mentioning their names in comparison) that became internationally renowned and legendary because of their originality.

This ‘artist’ (Abdulkareem) should simply focus on making himself better and in the interim, stick to his limited fan base and talent. Trying to build his reputation on an imaginary ‘confrontation’ he had 50 is a very insufficient. Has it occurred to him that 50 will be hard pressed to even remember who he is? Or doesn’t he seem to understand that they are simply not playing in the same league.
The man needs to get a grip with reality; hallucination will not take him to the top.

I am half American & half Nigerian, leaving in nigeria. I lived 35 years in the states. I was at 50 cent shows in Nigeria. they were not great. Nigerians CHEERED MORE for the local artist, than for 50 cents & his crew. what Eedris did or may not have done, has not destroyed Nigerian artist chances of co-operation with American stars. Nigeria artist do not need the Americans for them to shine. FELA, SUNNY ADE, VICTOR UWAIFO, EEDRIS, 2FACE, MAJEK FASHEK, EDNA OGOLI, SUNNY NNEJI, etc. did not have american behind them to become stars. it is time Nigerians & Africans realise that, they can do it on their own. just ask the JAMAICANS-BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH, SHAGGY, SHABA, SEAN PAUL, BEANIE, LADY SAW. they made it on their own, before the American begged to join the Raggae/Ragga party.
Nigerian artist should strive to be original and come up with their own kind & style of music.
Today in Nigeria local radio stations, discoteks(clubs), 90 – 96 procent of music played are of nigerian or African artist. Why we Nigerian’s worried about 50 Cent or America star. EEDRIS ABDUKAREEM is a man like 50 Cent and they should have respect for each other, not because 50Cent is an America Citizen or an America Star

Personally, i think Eedris is an idiot. It wasn’t 50 cent that arranged the seating arrangements on the plane but the organisers so why attack 50?
Eedris commands no respect in Nigeria when it comes to hip-hop and all those his “speaking-in-tongues” warped lyrics are dud.

Hey Fellow Nigerian youths, I ve gone through some of the write ups here and incerely feel we all need to re-eveluate our words , actions and values towards our fellow youths and Nigerians, With regards to our actions, we need to believe in ourselves and believe in other youths who are going through tough times to develop themselves and come up with beautiful Nigerian tunes. We should all understand that no matter hw long we live outside, there is no place like home .We need to start thinking of how do we take charge of the current situations in Nigeria and turn ourselves,the government and the society at large into a better society, I feel for the youths of Nigeria because we all allow ourselves to be carried away by the nonentities whom we have choosen to serve us of which instead of them serving us and creating industries ,schools and jobs for the youths and the generations of young ones to come ,they are busy chasing the satisfaction of their own selfish ambitions mmm …. its sad.
However all hope is not lost but it has to start with how do we view ouselves ,lets forget the fact that we ve got many tribes and ethnic groups but as intellectuals let take a lesson from people like martin luther king and the rest of the black americans who as african now turn against their motherland ,I have no detailed idea of what transpired between eedris abdulkareem and 50 cent but one thing I surely know is , let us not allow another black brother who happen to be one of the lucky slaves to escape inthe 18th century to insult, assault and make us discriminate against each other. I think the root of this controversy is the 50 cent bodyguard approach. He was rude to Eedris according to him ( Eedris) that was what pissed him off. Then Eedris’s action got 50 cent mad, he thought Eedris was just been stupid. To me every REAL man would want to stand and fight for themself, and that’s what Eedris did, even 50 cent would do that too. 50 recently pushed a model into a pool, because she got on he’s nerves.
