2Face wins MTV’s African Artist of the Year
Earlier this month, 2 Face Idibia (formerly of the Plantashun Boiz) was awarded African Artist of the year at the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon, Portugal. It’s nice to see one of the so-called “local boys” getting international recognition!
While 2 Face is by no means, “putting Nigeria on the musical map,” for anyone that’s been paying attention or knows African music, he is the hottest pop sensation at the moment. With his wiry frame, good looks and hit song “African Queen,” 2Face Idibia is at the top of the African pop charts - helped considerably by heavy airplay on MTV Base and MTV Africa.
Here are a few things to consider:
*The one place I was able to did find 2Face’s Face 2 Face, sent me a poorly packaged bootleg CD-R that was so badly reproduced (copied) that it was completely unplayable… and for $8 (1000 Naira) no less. Complete with a smeared, inkjet-printed, paper adhesive cd-label of an off-center color copy of the original CD. The other films/music cds purchased from the site were more of the same.

Most of our local artistes lack online presence and I don’t know why it’s such a ‘big deal’ for them to get a web site that coulkd be managed for lesser cost!

sells 2Face’s CD FACE 2 FACE. I just ran across it today, and unfortunately I don’t know anything about this particular company. I’m hoping they sell the real product and not bootleg material because I really want 2Face’s CD. It’s hard to obtain in Houston, Texas (USA). I’m glad I had the opportunity to actually hear his song “African Queen”. That song not only afforded me the opportunity to know who he was, but it put him over the top for me…I have been following him every since. Does anyone know about this particular company?

i am a nigerian living in tunis,tunisia. i am from agbor in delta state of nigeria and i attneded ika grammer school,boji-boji,agbor. i want to use this medum to say that 2face idibia has put smiles on the face of nigerians here in tunisia. he is a household name here in tunis and the tunisians are very very happy with him,infact any where you go it is always 2face idibia music that is always aired.some of my tunisians friends always call me by his name 2FACE IDIBIA. i am very happy that we have a very talented artist whom is trying very hard to use music to bring out some positive things about nigeria. lastly i use this oppurtunity to greet my family in agbor most especially my brothers, johnson,ifeanyi,barry spain (father barry) mekiri, onyeka, dukpe, gabriel, emeke, mummy, bright, okus, stanley, jude, omorseife, and of course my one and only angel chi-chi baby. i love you all.

My dearest friend from Nigeria introduce me to African Queen, and from the moment i heard the first few lines i loved it and was singing along, i think this is one of the most beautiful song i’ve heard, it touches ones heart and says so much, not only to African women, but to women on the whole, i simply love it.
